Georgian Paste Stone Studs

$685

We're in love with the old-world, yet classic look of these earrings: we've converted these classic Georgian rivière links into classic, timeless studs to wear everyday, or add to any ear stack. Each collet setting is made in sterling silver with a 14k gold back. These earrings have been modified with a solid 14k gold ear post and earring back.

The stone measures .25" in diameter in these post earrings.

THE STORY:

Set in sterling silver, these Georgian stones hailing from the 1700s have kept their special luster and sparkle for more than 200 years. The Kimberly mines of South Africa weren't discovered until 1869-71--with diamonds not as accessible or commonly in circulation, jewelers resorted to making their own "Paste" stones as a more common and cost effect alternative to diamonds. These stones were handmade from a crystal compound and polished with metal powder until it shimmered like a gemstone. Paste accessories were the most sought after jewelry of the Georgian era of the 1700s.

We're in love with the old-world, yet classic look of these antique earrings: the silver and crystal pieces were once necklace links in their original time--but we converted these precious gems to be worn on the ears in solid 14k gold filled posts.
